Lima One Capital terminates Greenville County Square lease
Real estate investing lender Lima One Capital will no longer anchor Greenville's $1 billion County Square redevelopment project.
The company initially announced the new headquarters in 2023, promising to invest $51.4 million and create 300 jobs. But County Square didn't move fast enough, forcing the company to search for a new spot, a spokesperson said in a statement on Wednesday.
"To ensure continuity of our business operations and provide an exciting new headquarters for our employees, we felt it necessary to terminate the lease at County Square and explore alternatives," the statement read. "We have identified a new potential location and can’t wait to share more as discussions are finalized. We look forward to continuing to invest in Greenville and support its growth as a vibrant business community."

Lima One's would remain "strongly committed" to a Greenville expansion, according to the company statement.
At the time of the 2023 announcement, the new County Square was expected to open by 2025. As the end of the year quickly approaches, Greenville County's new offices have opened alongside a new parking garage, but much of the project's 40 acres remains under construction. The news of Lima One's lease termination follows October announcements from multiple restaurants that will become County Square tenants.
Lima One's County Square headquarters would have occupied 65,000 square-feet and more than doubled the company's current office space at their 201 East McBee Avenue location.
Greenville County has not yet replied to requests for comment on the termination from The Greenville News.
