1 killed in apparent shooting Wednesday in Johnston Square
A 33-year-old man is dead following a Wednesday morning apparent shooting in Baltimore’s Johnston Square neighborhood, police said.
Baltimore Police officers responded around 8:50 a.m. to the 500 block of East Preston Street, not far from Baltimore Penn Station or the University of Baltimore campus, in response to a report of a shooting, according to a news release. Police found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
Earlier Wednesday morning, the department reported 174 Baltimore homicides so far this year, compared to 230 this time last year. It’s unclear if Wednesday’s homicide was included in that count.
